Consumer Rights

satisfied customersConsumer rights are protected in the United Kingdom by many different rules and regulations.

Buying, selling, lost and stolen goods are all covered by laws that look after the consumers’ interests. In some countries no laws exist on what and how items and goods can be sold and this leads to confusion, mistrust of companies and anger.

If shops in the UK did not have to abide by certain rules on returned goods or faulty goods, customers would inevitably find themselves unable to get what they are paying for and deserve.

Protecting consumer rights is all about making sure that when something is bought, lost, stolen or found, or a service has been paid for and has not been provided, that the consumer has some basic rights that will protect them. The law says that when buying goods they should be of satisfactory quality, must be fit for the purpose they made for, and match their description.

Traders are not allowed to make a written statement claiming you have no legal rights when you buy their goods, create a false description about the goods, sell dangerous or unsafe goods, try to charge for goods sent that you didn't order, sell short measures or short weight or produce a misleading price.

These are all ways to help protect consumer rights.
